WE HAVE ALREADY WON THIS WAR

Because we have already won their hearts

I write about technology, because that is what I work with for a living. However, I have very good Ukrainian friends and I am very sad to write about something else right now. Hopefully, this message will reach hearts and minds in need of it.

We are seeing a sad, ugly, unequal, brutal, coward and old-fashioned war between a winner and a loser. Ukraine has already won, as well as the so-called Western world. Ukrainians have set up an unprecedented example of bravery to the free world. Actually, the defeat suffered by Russia and like-minded supporters was inflicted a long time ago, in the very moment our values of democracy and freedom won the hearts of their people. There is no better — or more humiliating — sign of a defeat than having your own people willing to join “the enemy”. By the same token, there is no better proof of the failure of a policy than the need to raise walls to prevent people from running away from it.

Apparently, Vladimir Putin is supported by senior Russians longing the “old good days”, that are only good in their memories. Putin and his friends, on the other hand, have a reason to miss those times, when they could loot the country without being bothered by this “inconvenient” idea of democracy. But this is already over.
